Dear Anna #37 families,

I am writing to inform you of a serious incident this week that prompted the school district administration to contact police and initiate enhanced safety protocols.

A junior high student who brought a suspected firearm to school and made a verbal threat to several students on Wednesday remains in police custody.

The incident was reported to district administration Wednesday evening by parents, which prompted a police investigation, internal investigation and external lockdown procedures to go into effect this week. The student in question has not been at school since the incident was reported and is facing both legal and school disciplinary actions.

I want to assure you that student safety is our highest priority and that our administrative team followed all established safety protocols, working closely with law enforcement to address this situation immediately. The threat has been contained, and all appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the ongoing safety of our students and staff.

This incident serves as an important reminder about the critical role we all play in maintaining school safety. Please talk with your children about the importance of reporting any weapons or threats immediately to school administration, teachers, or other trusted adults at school. When students speak up, they help keep our entire school community safe.
